One UI 9 Update Breaks Wi-Fi and Mobile Data on Galaxy Phones
Samsung Galaxy owners report Wi-Fi drops, dead mobile data and unrecognized SIM cards after installing One UI 9 and Android 17. Samsung has not yet commented.

Samsung Galaxy users are reporting serious connectivity problems after installing One UI 9, the company's latest software layer, which brings the update to Android 17. Complaints span Wi-Fi, mobile networks and SIM detection on several models.
Wi-Fi failures are the most common complaint, though they do not affect everyone in the same way. Some users can no longer connect to their home network while other saved networks work normally. Others say Wi-Fi runs fine on 2.4 GHz networks but fails on 5 GHz ones.
Mobile networks and SIM cards also affected
The problems do not stop at Wi-Fi. Other owners say the cellular connection fails after the update, so apps and websites will not load until the phone joins a Wi-Fi network. In some cases the SIM card is not recognized at all.
Samsung has not commented on the issue so far, and the exact cause is unknown. Still, because every affected device began failing after the move to One UI 9, the software is the obvious suspect.
No permanent fix yet
None of the reported cases has produced a permanent solution, which means affected users will have to wait for Samsung to step in.
This would not be the first serious problem with the release. In late October, reports emerged that One UI 9 was hurting battery life on the Galaxy S24 and S25 in all their variants. Affected users said their phones ran out of power after just over three hours of screen-on time.
If Samsung confirms a bug in One UI 9, a patch should follow fairly quickly, though there is no indication of how long that could take.
