TVport Brings Nintendo Switch Games to Apple TV Natively
An open-source project called TVport recompiles Switch and Switch 2 games to run natively on Apple TV. Super Mario Odyssey and Animal Crossing already work.

A Reddit user has released an open-source project that lets Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games run natively on Apple TV. The project, called TVport, was built with help from Claude Code and shared on GitHub by a developer who goes by FloatingFalafel.
TVport is a fork of nxnative and recompiles game dumps from the original Switch and the Switch 2 for Apple TV. For now it works only on a game-by-game basis. According to the developer, most games run much as they do on the Switch, but some load textures into memory differently and need to be diagnosed and fixed before they run properly.
What works so far
Three titles have been ported, one of them still in progress. Super Mario Odyssey runs at 60 FPS, with occasional very slight stutters and some audio issues around waterfalls. Animal Crossing: New Horizons runs at 30 FPS with no problems so far in the developer's play sessions.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is still being worked on. It runs at 30 FPS but suffers thermal throttling. The developer has a workaround, a render scale set at 75%, and is working on adding MetalFX upscaling.
Hardware requirements and outlook
Some games need the 4th-generation Apple TV with its 8GB of RAM, though the ones ported so far run on the 3rd-generation box. The developer hopes the beta will surface outliers so more fixes can be built into the program, making the process seamless.
It is not the only effort of its kind: another Redditor is porting Nintendo 64 games to Apple TV with an app called Nativecade. How long projects like these will survive is anyone's guess, given that they involve recompiling Nintendo's games.
