Fritzbox Update Support: How Long Your Router Gets FritzOS
Fritz has published a table showing how long each Fritzbox, repeater and accessory will receive software updates. Many current models are covered until early 2033.

Fritz has published a table that tells owners how long their Fritzbox router will keep receiving software updates. For many current models, the answer is early 2033.
The manufacturer regularly releases updates and lab versions that add features to its routers and repeaters. FritzOS 8.4o, for example, brings a DNS filter that can hide certain ads, such as those on smart TVs. The next release, FritzOS 8.50, is already available for several routers.
Why the end date matters
Every device eventually loses software support, and for routers that can be a real problem. If critical security vulnerabilities are no longer patched, manufacturers have more than once advised customers to dispose of the hardware. Until now, it was hard to predict when a given router or accessory would reach that point. Fritz's list is meant to answer exactly that question.
Support into the 2030s
The news is largely good. Anyone with a reasonably recent model does not need to worry about suddenly being left without updates. Fritz supports many current models until early 2033. If you are happy with your Wi-Fi standard, you therefore don't need to think about buying a new router for at least five years.
A few models are scheduled to end their update period on 1 January or in October 2032. Even that leaves plenty of time to plan a replacement.
Fritz also offers a separate list for mesh, smart home and telephony accessories. In the vast majority of cases, those devices will likewise continue to receive updates until January 2033.
Owners of older hardware should check the table for their specific model, since the end of support is the point at which security fixes stop.
