BMW to Allow Hands-Free Driving on Polish Roads This Month
BMW will let drivers take their hands off the wheel on Polish roads from this month, joining Ford, which has offered such a service for some time. Tesla is not yet there.

BMW is set to introduce hands-free driving on Polish roads this month, becoming the next carmaker to let drivers release the steering wheel while travelling in the country.
The Bavarian brand joins Ford, which has offered a comparable service in Poland for a longer time. Notably, the company that most often comes to mind when people talk about automated driving, Tesla, is still not on that list.
What it means for drivers
For Polish drivers, the move widens the choice of cars that support driving without hands on the wheel. Until now Ford was the main option for those who wanted such a feature on local roads. With BMW entering the market, the technology starts to look less like a one-off and more like an emerging standard among established manufacturers.
The available information does not specify on which road types the function will work, which models will get it, or how much it will cost. Those details are likely to matter in practice, as such systems typically come with conditions for use.
What comes next
The launch is planned for November, so more specific information on availability and the rules of use should appear soon. Whether Tesla follows with an equivalent offer for Poland remains an open question.
