Astragon Entertainment Closes Development Studio in Hamm
Astragon Entertainment is shutting down Astragon Development in Hamm, one of Germany's oldest game studios and the team behind the ship simulation Seafarer.

Astragon Entertainment is closing its in-house developer Astragon Development in Hamm, North Rhine-Westphalia. The studio counts among the oldest game developers in Germany.
The team most recently worked on the ship simulation Seafarer. With the closure, the project's developers lose their home at the publisher.
What the closure means
The move ends the era of an in-house studio that has been part of the German games landscape for a long time. Astragon is known for simulation titles, and Seafarer fit that profile. Details on the number of affected employees, the reasons for the decision or the future of Seafarer were not available at the time of writing.
For the German games industry, the shutdown is another reminder of how hard it is for established mid-sized studios to hold their ground. Players of the publisher's simulations should watch for official statements on support for existing titles.
