Plus Brings Forward 3G Shutdown in Poland, Starting November

Plus is speeding up the switch-off of its 3G network in Poland and will begin in November 2026. Most users have little to worry about, but older devices deserve a check.

Plus has accelerated its timetable for switching off 3G and will start retiring the network already in November 2026. The operator is the last in Poland to take the step, which closes a chapter for a technology that has long been superseded.

The change applies to the network infrastructure that Plus operates. By moving the schedule forward, the company is bringing the final phase of the 3G era closer than previously planned.

Is there reason to worry?

For the vast majority of subscribers, no. 3G is described as a heavily outdated technology, and modern phones rely on newer standards for calls and data. Day-to-day use of a current smartphone should not change.

Still, it is worth making sure that none of your equipment depends on 3G. Older phones, and any other devices that still connect through this standard, are the ones most likely to be affected once the network goes dark. Checking which network type a device uses, and replacing or updating it where necessary, is the sensible precaution before the switch-off reaches your area.

What it means

Shutting down 3G frees up resources operators can devote to newer technologies, a common reason behind such moves across the industry. With Plus joining the other Polish operators, 3G is effectively on its way out of the country's mobile landscape.

Subscribers who are unsure about their hardware should look at their device settings or contact their operator ahead of the shutdown, which begins this month.
