Meta acquires Conductor, the multi-agent AI coding app

Meta has bought Conductor, the startup whose Mac app lets developers run several AI coding agents at once. Financial terms were not disclosed, and the cloud service shuts down on November 20.

Meta has acquired Conductor, a startup whose Mac app lets software developers run several AI coding agents on the same project at the same time. The deal was confirmed by Conductor on its own website and by Meta in a statement. Financial terms were not disclosed.

What Conductor does

Conductor's app lets developers split different tasks across multiple agents. One agent can build a new feature while another writes tests for the same project. Each agent works in its own separate copy of the codebase, and the developer then reviews the resulting changes and merges them into the main codebase. The app supports Anthropic's Claude Code, OpenAI's Codex and Cursor's coding agents.

Charlie Holtz and Jackson de Campos founded Conductor in 2024 and released the app in July 2025. In March, the startup announced a $22 million Series A round with Spark Capital and Matrix participating. At the time it said engineers at companies including Meta, Google and Spotify were using the product.

What happens to current users

Following the acquisition, Conductor has stopped new sign-ups and app downloads. Conductor Cloud will switch to read-only mode on November 13 and shut down on November 20, after which the company will begin deleting user data stored in the cloud. Until then, users can export their data or move their workspaces to their Macs.

The locally running Mac app will keep receiving support for new models and critical bug fixes until early 2027. Holtz said the team aims to ship a new interface in the same period.

Meta launched its own coding agent, Muse Code, in August. With Conductor, it now also gains a tool for managing several agents on a single project. The acquisition was announced on the same day OpenAI said it plans to buy Pierre, a developer-tools startup, a sign of how quickly big AI companies are building out the tooling around coding agents.
