Apple Plans MacBook Neo 2 for First Half of 2027, Report Says
Apple is reportedly preparing a second-generation MacBook Neo for the first half of 2027, with an A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM and new color options.

Apple plans to release a second-generation MacBook Neo in the first half of 2027, according to a new report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The timeline puts the successor roughly a year after the original laptop arrived.
Gurman has previously said the new model will move to an A19 Pro chip and 12GB of RAM, and that it will come in new color options. Those details have not been confirmed by Apple.
What the current model offers
The existing MacBook Neo launched in March 2026 with an A18 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM. It is sold in four colors: Silver, Blush, Citrus and Indigo. If the reported specifications hold, the next version would bring a newer processor and 50 percent more memory than today's configuration.
Pricing has also shifted since launch. In the United States, the laptop initially started at $599, but Apple raised the price to $699 in June. How the second generation will be priced has not been reported.
Why it matters
The MacBook Neo is Apple's entry point into the Mac laptop lineup, so changes to its chip and memory directly affect buyers looking for a lower-cost machine. A jump to 12GB of RAM would address one of the more obvious limits of the 8GB model, particularly for multitasking.
For people deciding whether to buy now, the reported schedule suggests a refresh is still several months away. Apple has not announced a date, and the first-half window could still change. Further details on design, display and final pricing remain unknown until the company makes an official announcement.
