Apple has started rolling out the Creator Studio update it announced late last month, bringing new AI features that combine Apple Intelligence with OpenAI models. The company had only said the update would arrive in November. It is free for existing subscribers.

Apple unveiled the update alongside the new iMacs and the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip.

Final Cut Pro and Pixelmator Pro

The headline addition is MotionVFX, now built directly into Final Cut Pro for Mac. Editors get access to thousands of elements, including templates, graphics, titles and transitions, plus tools for rotoscoping, tracking and color grading. Final Cut Pro also supports seamless editing in Pixelmator Pro, and Apple's curated Content Hub now includes video assets, along with stock photos and backgrounds, available inside the app.

Pixelmator Pro adds Generate Fill, which lets users transform selected areas of an image using natural language.

Assistants in Logic Pro and the iWork apps

Logic Pro for Mac gains an intelligent assistant in beta, built on a combination of Apple-built models and OpenAI. According to Apple, it helps creators navigate production workflows, start a new song, set up a vocal track from a single prompt or refine an active project. Logic also gets an enhanced Stem Splitter that now separates drums, and a redesigned Browser that brings all sounds together, with music understanding and a Splice library.

Keynote, Pages and Numbers receive an assistant, also in beta, based on Apple models and OpenAI, that understands document context. In Keynote it helps design, animate and refine slides; in Pages it drafts, restructures and fine-tunes text; in Numbers it calculates, visualizes and organizes data, recommends chart types with a one-tap preview and builds custom tables using world knowledge. The apps also gain stock video in the Content Hub and new premium themes and templates.

New Model Context Protocol (MCP) support lets external AI agents and tools read content, make edits and run automated actions directly in the three apps.

The inclusion of OpenAI models alongside Apple's own is a notable step for the subscription, and it shows how Apple is mixing in outside technology for creative and productivity tools.
