UPI Hits Record 25.47 Billion Transactions in October 2026

India's UPI processed 25.47 billion transactions worth Rs 31.53 lakh crore in October, a record, with daily value passing Rs 1 lakh crore, NPCI data shows.

India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) set a new monthly record in October 2026, processing 25.47 billion transactions worth Rs 31.53 lakh crore, according to data released by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Growth over September

Transaction volume rose 5.8% from the 24.07 billion payments recorded in September. Value climbed 7.4% from Rs 29.37 lakh crore in the previous month. Value therefore grew faster than volume, which points to a slightly higher average ticket size.

Part of the monthly gain comes from the calendar: October has 31 days, against 30 in September. Even so, the daily figures show a clear step up.

Daily averages

UPI handled an average of 822 million transactions per day in October. Daily value moved past Rs 1 lakh crore, a threshold equal to one trillion rupees, which makes the milestone a notable one for the payment network.

Why it matters

UPI is the main way many people in India pay for everyday goods and services, from street vendors to online merchants, and its monthly numbers are widely watched as a gauge of digital payment adoption. October also falls in a period when consumer spending typically rises, though the NPCI figures themselves do not attribute the growth to any single factor.

The data adds to a pattern of steady increases in both volume and value on the platform. The NPCI publishes updated figures at the start of each month, so the November numbers will show whether October's level holds.
