Tech Funding Hits 12-Month Low of $592 Million in October
Tech funding fell to $592 million in October, a 12-month low, as late-stage rounds dropped 72%. Early-stage deals rose 114% month on month.

Tech funding slid to a 12-month low of $592 million in October, dragged down by a 72% plunge in late-stage investment. The figures point to a sharp split in the market: larger, later-round cheques dried up while money for younger companies grew.
Early-stage rounds take the lead
Early-stage funding was the bright spot. It climbed 114% from the previous month, reaching $361.6 million against $168.6 million in September. It also rose 10.8% from $326.4 million in October 2025, so the gain is not just a rebound from a weak month but an increase on the same month a year earlier.
Early-stage rounds made up 61% of all funding raised in October. That share shows how far the balance shifted toward smaller deals during the month, as late-stage activity fell away.
What it means
A 72% drop in late-stage funding is the main reason the monthly total hit its lowest level in a year. Late-stage rounds are usually the largest in value, so even a modest fall in their number can pull the headline figure down sharply, and a decline of this size has a visible effect.
For founders, the data suggests that investors were still willing to back young companies even as they held back on bigger, later-stage commitments. For companies that are close to raising growth capital, it signals a tougher month for large rounds. Whether October marks the start of a longer slowdown in late-stage deals or a one-off dip will become clearer as figures for the coming months are published.
