Netflix launches AI Discover tab to help viewers pick what to watch
Netflix is rolling out AI Discover, a TV app tab that suggests films and series based on mood, available time and viewing habits, starting with a limited US group.

Netflix has introduced AI Discover, an AI-powered feature in its TV app designed to shorten the time viewers spend deciding what to watch. A new Discover tab recommends films and series based on mood, the time a person has available and their viewing preferences.
The first version is built around themes. Users can choose options such as "Something Light", "Scare Me", "Family Movie Night" and "Quick Watches". The themes are shaped not only by mood but also by how much time the viewer has, what they watched recently and which titles are popular on the platform. Each theme appears with a short clip from a film or series.
Picking a theme makes Netflix rank matching titles. Viewers can move into more specific themes to narrow the results, or choose "Something Different" to get a completely new set of suggestions.
Feedback shapes the results
Every title carries a "Tune Your Recommendations" option. Users can say they like a suggestion or ask that a title not appear again. According to Netflix, AI Discover remembers this feedback and updates recommendations in real time.
The company says the feature runs on a new "intelligence layer" it developed, which keeps learning by responding to signals users give the platform. AI is also used to generate the themes shown in AI Discover.
Netflix describes AI Discover as a "test kitchen" for new ways of finding content. Usage patterns and feedback will determine which ideas are developed further or brought into the main Netflix experience.
Availability
AI Discover is opening to a limited number of users in the US who use Netflix in English and have supported televisions. Those with access will see the Discover tab in the TV app's top menu, marked with a red icon and a "New" label. Netflix plans to expand the rollout to more users in the coming weeks.
