Revolut to deactivate old Lithuanian IBANs for French users
Revolut will permanently switch off the Lithuanian IBANs still linked to French customer accounts on 4 January 2027. Transfers and direct debits sent to them will be rejected.

Revolut will permanently deactivate the Lithuanian IBANs (starting with LT) still attached to some French customers' accounts on 4 January 2027. After that date, incoming transfers and direct debits sent to those numbers will be rejected, the company warned in an email sent on Wednesday 4 November.
The LT number is unique to each customer and dates from the period before the neobank had a French branch, ahead of the arrival of French IBANs (starting with FR76) in May 2022. Customers therefore have about two months to get organised.
What is at stake
If an employer, a benefits agency or a supplier still uses the old Lithuanian number, payments will be bounced back to the sender. That could mean salaries that never arrive, automatic debits that are refused and payments that fail. The deadline falls just after the holidays, when many services run at reduced speed, so waiting until the last moment is risky.
Customers should tell anyone who pays them or debits their account to switch to the French IBAN. In the Revolut app, the RIB/IBAN section under the balance shows the French number. Revolut presents the change as a simple update with no effect on the balance or on the French IBAN. Users should also be wary of messages asking for bank details through a link, since scammers already exploit genuine IBANs to target French people.
A wider shift to a French bank
The cutoff comes as Revolut changes status in France. On 10 August, the company obtained a full banking licence for its subsidiary Revolut Bank S.A. The email, however, concerns accounts already moved to the French branch of Revolut Bank UAB, the group's Lithuanian bank.
The transfer of customers to Revolut Bank S.A. already has a date. In an earlier email, Revolut announced an automatic switch of accounts between 2 and 5 December 2026, with no change to IBAN or card. Deposits will then be covered by the French guarantee fund (FGDR), with the same ceiling of 100,000 euros.
The old number should in fact have disappeared long ago: in July 2022, Revolut said it would stay active for only 30 days after the migration.
