Nykaa reported a 206% jump in profit after tax (PAT) for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, helped by strong performance from its beauty business and its quick commerce arm, according to the company's results.

Alongside the earnings, the company announced it will acquire an 82% majority stake in Simply Nam, a cosmetics brand founded in 2020 by celebrity makeup artist Namrata Soni together with Bozzil, a venture studio led by Hanna Strömgren Khan.

Premium makeup push

Nykaa said the deal is expected to help it widen its premium makeup portfolio. Simply Nam is a relatively young label, built around the profile of its makeup-artist founder, and the stake gives Nykaa direct ownership of a brand in the higher-priced segment of colour cosmetics.

Why it matters

The profit growth suggests that Nykaa's core beauty marketplace and its faster delivery offering are both contributing to earnings. For Indian beauty shoppers, the acquisition points to a wider range of premium makeup under the Nykaa umbrella. For investors, it shows the company is pairing operating gains with brand-building through acquisitions.

Further financial details of the Simply Nam transaction, including its value and closing timeline, were not part of the information available at the time of writing.
