Poland Plans PLN 5 Billion in Aid for Clean Technology Investments
Poland's Ministry of Development and Technology has sent a bill to the legislative process that would unlock PLN 5 billion in support for large clean technology investments.

Poland's Ministry of Development and Technology has moved a draft law into the legislative process that would launch a PLN 5 billion support programme for companies investing in clean technologies. The ministry says the rules should strengthen the competitiveness of the Polish economy and speed up decarbonisation.
The bill transposes into Polish law the EU's CISAF, the Clean Industrial Deal State Aid Framework. Its aim is to accelerate investment tied to the energy transition. According to the authors of the draft, failing to implement the mechanism could weaken Poland's position against other EU countries such as Germany, Spain and Hungary, which have already launched similar programmes.
Who can apply and how much
The scheme targets large projects whose value exceeds the equivalent of EUR 110 million. Aid would come as grants and as income tax relief, covering both CIT and PIT. Grants may make up at most 80 per cent of the support, while at least 20 per cent would be delivered as tax exemptions lasting 15 years.
Eligible investments include renewable energy sources, hydrogen technologies, energy storage, battery production and components for the renewables sector.
Conditions for companies
Businesses will have to meet specific requirements to receive the money. They must create at least 50 new jobs and keep the investment in place for a minimum of five years.
The draft is still at the start of the legislative path, so the final shape of the rules may change. For manufacturers of batteries, hydrogen equipment and renewable energy components, the high investment threshold means the programme is aimed at large industrial projects rather than small firms. The planned 15-year tax exemptions are meant to give investors long-term predictability.
