Atomberg Gets SEBI Approval for Its Proposed IPO in India
Consumer appliances maker Atomberg Technologies has cleared the SEBI hurdle for its IPO, which combines a fresh issue of up to Rs 450 crore with an offer for sale.
Atomberg Technologies has received approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for its proposed initial public offering, clearing a key regulatory step toward a stock market listing.
The issue consists of a fresh issue of equity shares worth up to Rs 450 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of 7.65 crore shares by existing shareholders. The company has not yet announced the price band or the timeline for the offering.
How the money will be used
Atomberg plans to use Rs 90 crore from the fresh issue proceeds to repay or prepay borrowings. A further Rs 150 crore is earmarked for brand awareness and performance marketing activities. The summary of the filing available so far does not detail the allocation of the remaining proceeds.
Why it matters
The approval moves Atomberg, a consumer appliances maker, closer to joining India's listed consumer-products companies. Because a large part of the fresh issue is aimed at marketing and debt reduction, the company appears to be prioritising brand building and a stronger balance sheet as it grows.
The OFS component means existing shareholders will be able to sell part of their holdings, a typical feature of IPOs by venture-backed companies.
What comes next: Atomberg must now decide on the launch date and price band, which are expected to be disclosed ahead of the issue opening.
