Ozon Bank outage: app down, payments and logins fail for users
Ozon Bank's app and payments failed for thousands of Russian users, with about 30,000 complaints in an hour. The bank says service is restored and funds are safe.

Ozon Bank suffered a widespread outage on Thursday that left customers unable to log in to the app or pay for purchases. By 14:00 Moscow time the bank said everything was working normally again.
At the peak, Downdetector logged about 30,000 complaints in one hour. Users reported that payments would not go through, they could not enter their profiles, payment forms failed to load and confirmation codes never arrived.
Where the problems were reported
Most reports came from St. Petersburg, the Samara, Novosibirsk and Moscow regions, and the city of Moscow itself.
The monitoring service also recorded complaints about the Ozon marketplace and the classifieds platform Avito. Avito said its service was operating normally.
What the bank said
Ozon Bank acknowledged that some customers had trouble logging in and paying, and stressed that all customer money was safe. According to the company, specialists were already working on the problem and expected all services to return to normal shortly.
The bank later confirmed the recovery with an update to its statement. It did not say what caused the failure, and the company has not given any details about the scale of the disruption beyond the user complaints tracked by the monitoring service.
For customers, the incident is a reminder of how dependent everyday shopping has become on a single app: when login, payment forms and one-time codes fail together, there is little alternative at the checkout. Users who saw failed payments may want to check their transaction history in the app to confirm whether any charges were made.
