OpenAI Doubles ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium Usage Limits

OpenAI is doubling usage limits on its $100, $200 and $500 ChatGPT Pro plans and Business Premium, reversing a planned cut after subscriber complaints.

OpenAI has doubled usage limits across several paid ChatGPT plans, including the Pro tiers priced at $100, $200 and $500 as well as Business Premium. Thibault Sottiaux, an OpenAI software engineer and product executive, announced the change in a post on X and said the new limits took effect immediately.

The move reverses an earlier plan. In September, OpenAI said it would reduce usage limits on the $200 ChatGPT Pro subscription, with the change due to start on October 29. After receiving feedback and objections from subscribers, the company decided not to go ahead, and subscription prices are not changing.

Existing limits stay in place

Sottiaux said OpenAI listened to users and will keep the current limits on the $200 Pro plan. ChatGPT Work and Codex will continue to run under the previous limits without any reduction. That matters for people who rely on OpenAI tools for work, programming and app development, because some of these services share usage allowances depending on the subscription type.

Dots agents keep expanded limits

OpenAI also said expanded usage limits for Dots will continue. Dots are personal AI agents built to handle ongoing tasks and work in the background. According to Sottiaux, Dots usage stays separate from the default ChatGPT usage limits, so tasks run by these agents are not deducted from a subscriber's main allowance. The company has not said how long the expanded Dots limits will last.

Sottiaux added that OpenAI will keep releasing improved AI models and efficiency updates, which should let users get more real-world usage over time.

The reversal shows how much subscriber feedback can shape paid AI services, especially as individuals and businesses lean more heavily on AI tools for productivity, coding and everyday tasks.
