Netflix launches AI Discover tab to pick shows by your mood
Netflix is rolling out an experimental AI Discover tab on TV that suggests shows and movies based on your mood, available time and viewing preferences.

Netflix announced on Tuesday that it is rolling out an "AI Discover" tab, a new space where subscribers can try experimental ways of finding something to watch. The first feature lets users get recommendations based on what they feel like watching at that moment.
Viewers choose from curated themes that show clips from series and films. The themes reflect mood, viewing preferences, the time available, or what is new and trending. Examples include "something light," "scare me," "family movie night" and "quick watches."
How it works
Netflix says AI Discover is powered by a new intelligence layer it has been building, one that responds in real time to what users tell the service and keeps learning. After picking a theme, users see matching titles. They can narrow the search with more specific themes or select "something different" to start over.
Every title carries a "Tune Your Recommendations" button next to "Play" and "My List." It lets viewers save suggestions they like or exclude titles they do not want recommended again.
The move suggests Netflix wants to make its growing catalog easier to navigate, shifting discovery away from endless scrolling toward a more personalized, AI-driven experience. In a blog post, the company said that what suits a quiet night in may differ from a family movie night or a few spare minutes.
Availability and next steps
Netflix calls AI Discover its "test kitchen," where it will try out new recipes for discovery. User feedback will determine which features are kept or improved before they move to the main Netflix experience.
The tab is starting to roll out in the U.S. for members who use Netflix in English on supported TVs, with more users to follow in the coming weeks. Those with access will see a "Discover" button with a red gem icon and a "New" label in the top navigation bar.
