Flangguage Launches CHATTER, an AI Tool for Speaking English
Metaverse English platform Flangguage has launched CHATTER, an AI service that lets children talk in English about scenes from their virtual classes. A pilot has begun.

Flangguage, a metaverse English-learning platform, has launched CHATTER, an AI-based speaking service that lets children talk in English about what they experienced in its virtual classes. The company said on November 3 that a pilot is under way for intermediate and advanced learners.
Flangguage runs a Minecraft-based virtual space where students explore and solve problems with native-speaker teachers, using English throughout. CHATTER builds on those lessons by showing students images of scenes from class and prompting them to discuss those moments with an AI conversation partner.
How CHATTER works
Take a student who watched a panda at a virtual zoo. After class, the student can view that scene in CHATTER and describe what they did and how they felt, in English. The AI partner, called Tori, responds to the student's story and asks follow-up questions to keep the conversation going. If the student asks about something, Tori can generate a related image in real time or suggest more natural English expressions.
The company calls the approach "Re-Experience". Students recall a lesson and rebuild it through conversation, reusing expressions they already know and extending them to new ones.
Why it matters and what comes next
The idea came from a parent who shared how two brothers who learned English on the platform were speaking it in daily life. The company concluded that children use English more when they have someone to talk to without pressure, and built the AI service around that.
CEO Jeon Hun-cheol said that remembering language only as language tends to stop at memorization, but linking it to experiences and emotions can turn it into a person's own language. The goal, he said, is not to make children memorize things to say in English but to give them stories they want to tell.
Flangguage recently hired a chief technology officer who previously worked as an AI developer in New York. The company is also refining Flangguage Book, which turns lesson experiences into personalized storybooks, and an AI language analysis system. It plans to introduce an AI humanoid that interacts directly with students inside the game before the end of the year. During the pilot, it will collect user feedback to improve CHATTER.
