Russian electronics retailer M.Video plans to build a corporate platform that gives employees access to AI assistants, the company said. Staff will be able to search internal documents and use artificial intelligence for everyday work tasks.

Chatbot in limited testing

The foundation of the future platform is a chatbot that the company is currently testing with a limited group of employees. Depending on the results of the trial, M.Video intends to widen access to the tool.

The longer-term plan is to build a full corporate AI platform on top of the chatbot, with separate workspaces for individual departments. The company has not named a launch date.

AI already used in development and customer service

M.Video already applies AI in software development and operational processes. One example is reviewing changes to program code and preparing comments for developers.

In customer service, an AI agent helps analyze buyer inquiries and find the necessary information in correspondence. The company also uses AI to support sellers on its marketplace and to process product data.

The move reflects a broader pattern among large retailers: after isolated AI pilots in individual functions, they are consolidating tools into a single environment that lets employees query internal knowledge bases in natural language. For staff, that could mean less time spent hunting for instructions and regulations scattered across documents. Departmental workspaces would also let teams tailor assistants to their own data and tasks.

The next milestone is the outcome of the current test. Its results will determine how quickly the chatbot reaches more employees and evolves into the planned platform.
