mObywatel to Allow Fully Online Car Registration From 2027
From 2027, Poles will be able to register vehicles entirely in the mObywatel app, with plates delivered by courier. The ministry says it is a first in Europe.

Poland's government app mObywatel will let users register a vehicle entirely online from 2027, Deputy Prime Minister and Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski has announced. Number plates and the registration certificate will be delivered by courier, so owners will not need to visit an office.
Gawkowski said this would make Poland the first country in Europe to offer such a service. He framed the move as part of a broader aim: digitalisation, in his words, is not an end in itself but should serve citizens through better public services, greater security and fewer formalities.
ePayments spread across municipalities
The ministry also reported progress on ePłatności, which allows residents to pay property tax or waste fees directly in mObywatel. Residents of 305 municipalities can already do so, and more than 300 offices and institutions in every Polish voivodeship use the service. They include large cities such as Warsaw, Łódź, Gdańsk, Poznań, Lublin, Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Katowice and Gliwice, as well as rural municipalities with only a few thousand residents. Most offices joined in the Lublin and Podkarpackie voivodeships, with more than fifty in each.
Deputy Minister Dariusz Standerski gave figures for the growth. In all of 2025, residents made just under 550,000 payments through the service, worth about PLN 54 million. The count now stands at 1.7 million payments and more than PLN 170 million, and the number of participating offices is more than double that at the end of last year. Standerski said more municipalities and more types of cases will be added.
A new look for the app
mObywatel has also received a colourful login screen and a redesigned "What's new" section, where news about features will appear as stories. The developers say the new layout and extra space will make it easier to learn about new services, documents and functions. For now, the change looks largely cosmetic from a user's perspective.
Together, the updates show the app continuing to grow, from major services such as vehicle registration and company setup to small visual tweaks.
