iPhone 18 Leaks: A20 Chip, More RAM and Siri Upgrade Due 2027

Apple is reportedly preparing the standard iPhone 18 for spring 2027, with a 2nm A20 chip, more RAM, a redesigned camera bar and a Gemini-powered Siri.

Apple is preparing to launch the standard iPhone 18 in spring 2027, according to recent leaks and reports. It would arrive several months after the Pro models and the foldable iPhone Duo. Apple has not officially announced any details, so everything below remains early expectation.

Chip and memory

The biggest change is expected to be the A20 chip, reportedly built on TSMC's 2-nanometer process and replacing the A19 in the iPhone 17. Reports point to faster performance and roughly 30% better power efficiency, which could extend battery life.

RAM may also rise from the iPhone 17's 8GB. Some reports say 12GB, while analyst Ming-Chi Kuo expects 9GB. More memory would help with multitasking and on-device AI features.

Camera, display and software

The rear camera could adopt a wider bar across the top of the back, inspired by the Pro models. The change looks cosmetic: leaks suggest the same 48-megapixel main and ultrawide cameras. Apple is also said to be considering a pressure-sensitive Camera Control button instead of the current touch-based design. That would allow different actions depending on press force and could lower manufacturing costs.

The phone should keep the 6.3-inch OLED display with 120Hz ProMotion, with slightly thinner bezels. The latest leaks make a smaller Dynamic Island less likely.

It is expected to run iOS 27, which may include a revamped Siri built with Google's Gemini technology. The assistant is said to handle conversational requests better, understand on-screen content and carry out tasks across apps, alongside Apple Intelligence improvements in Photos, Mail, Safari and Shortcuts.

Launch and price

Apple could unveil the phone in spring 2027, possibly in March, alongside the second-generation iPhone Air and the cheaper iPhone 18e. Pricing is unconfirmed: one expectation is about $1,100, another is an unchanged starting price near $790, matching the iPhone 17. Storage is expected to start at 256GB with a 512GB option and no 1TB version of the standard model.
