Portuguese startup Granter has raised €1.6 million to expand its AI-powered platform for accessing European funding programmes. The round was led by 3XP Global through its Impact Innovation Fund, part of the Venture Capital Programme of the Capitalisation and Resilience Fund (FdCR), which is managed by the state development bank Banco Português de Fomento.

Other participants include Celtis Venture Partners, Gateway Ventures, US HR technology company Deel and angel investor Bracken Darrell, CEO of VF Corporation and former CEO of Logitech. The round lifts Granter's total funding to €2 million.

Cutting the paperwork

Granter's platform helps companies identify public funding opportunities, prepare applications and manage funded projects. It targets SMEs and startups that often lack the time, staff or expertise to handle complex application procedures. Extensive documentation and long preparation periods are a common barrier for smaller businesses.

The company recently relaunched its AI Grant Consultant with a chat-based interface, where users talk to an AI agent to find funding, draft applications and manage approved projects. A free trial lets users start preparing applications immediately. According to the company, work that once took weeks and often required specialist consultants can now be done in under an hour.

Granter won Web Summit's PITCH startup competition in November 2025. Since then it has supported more than 140 businesses in applications for over €30 million in funding. Clients include ANA Airports, MC Sonae, Galp, the Portuguese Navy and Fidelidade.

Expansion plans

CEO and co-founder Bernardo Seixas said thousands of companies with solid projects are shut out of public funding not for lack of merit, but because they lack the time, team or knowledge to deal with bureaucratic processes.

The new capital will go toward product development, hiring and international growth. Granter plans to more than double its workforce by the end of the year and to expand beyond Portugal, its main market, into Spain, Germany and Italy, where it already has investors and initial commercial connections. A move into the US is planned over the medium term.
