GenExis and CNT Tech Close Fisheries Fund for Young Founders
Korean accelerator GenExis and CNT Tech have finalized a policy-backed fisheries investment fund to back deep-tech and young-founder startups in the sector.

Korean accelerator GenExis (CEO Son Mi-kyung) and CNT Tech (CEO Jeon Hwa-seong) completed the formation of the CNT Tech-GenExis Future Youth Fisheries Investment Partnership on the 29th, according to the companies.
The fund was assembled through the fisheries account of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Food Fund of Funds, specifically its "Future Youth (AC)" category, which is overseen by the Agricultural Policy Insurance and Finance Service. The two firms act as co-general partners and will now begin sourcing and accelerating deep-tech fisheries companies and promising startups led by young founders.
Broader policy-fund portfolio
The new vehicle adds to the firms' initial investment capital and diversifies their policy-fund portfolio. They were previously selected as managers in the early-stage category of the agri-food fund of funds and in the "early-stage small" category of the Korea Venture Investment Corp. fund of funds. With the fisheries fund, they say their investment base now spans the agriculture and fisheries sector as well as early-stage startups more generally.
How investments will be chosen
The fund will look for fisheries business models that combine differentiated technology with a realistic path to market. Beyond technical strength, the managers plan to weigh field applicability, revenue structure and the execution ability of management teams before committing capital.
Selected companies will receive help through the firms' incubation networks, including refining business models, opening sales channels and raising follow-on funding. Where eligibility requirements are met, the firms will also support entry into public-private R&D and commercialization programs such as TIPS and LIPS.
GenExis said the fund gives it a base to offer both capital and growth support to promising fisheries companies, and that it intends to stay involved after investment through commercialization and later growth. It added that it will pursue thorough screening and responsible follow-up management so that policy funds translate into real company growth.
