Saudi Aramco has completed the acquisition of a 49% stake in HUMAIN, the Saudi artificial intelligence company, through a wholly owned subsidiary. The Public Investment Fund (PIF) keeps a controlling 51%.

Under the deal, Aramco will put roughly $2.6 billion (SAR 9.9 billion) in cash into HUMAIN during 2026. It will also contribute AI, computing and digital assets, while both shareholders will add technology capabilities and talent.

What HUMAIN is building

PIF launched HUMAIN in May 2025. The company is building full-stack AI capabilities across four areas: next-generation data centres, high-performance infrastructure and cloud platforms, advanced AI models, and industry-specific AI solutions. Its models include ALLaM, which the companies describe as one of the world's most powerful multimodal Arabic large language models.

The new capital supports HUMAIN's plan to develop 3 gigawatts of AI data centre capacity by 2030 to meet regional and global demand. The company says it aims to become one of the leading exporters of AI globally.

Why Aramco is investing

Aramco plans to use HUMAIN's infrastructure and services to bring AI applications into its industrial operations. The company expects the partnership to improve how it monetises existing AI and digital assets, with opportunities for revenue growth and attractive margins, while complementing its core energy business.

Aramco CEO Amin H. Nasser said the company has achieved $11.3 billion in Technology Realized Value since 2023, with a significant portion coming from AI solutions. He said the partnership strengthens Aramco's position as a global technology leader.

Yazeed A. Al-Humied of PIF said combining the two investors' AI portfolios under HUMAIN creates synergy that fuels talent growth, technological advancement and intellectual property creation. The transaction aligns with PIF's 2026-2030 strategy, which aims to deepen integration across economic ecosystems and expand private sector participation.
