Wonderful, a company specializing in agentic AI, plans to invest PLN 200 million in Poland between 2027 and 2029. The firm, currently valued at $5 billion, says it will expand its Warsaw team from roughly 20 people today to about 100 in 2027 and more than 200 in 2028-2029.

The announcement follows a $550 million funding round closed in September, which set the $5 billion valuation. Wonderful has had an office in Warsaw since May. According to Paweł Osterreicher, General Manager Poland, it is one of the largest AI investments announced in Poland by a company from the sector, and Poland was among the first places where the company is putting capital from the latest round.

Where the money goes

Most of the budget will fund hiring: developers, software architects and AI deployment specialists, including Go-To-Market and Forward Deployed Engineering roles. The rest will cover advanced AI engineering work such as adapting language models to Polish, technical infrastructure for deployments inside Poland, a new Warsaw office and a programme for young talent in practical AI. Target customers are mature companies in finance, telecoms, energy and retail.

The company names three focus areas. The first is AI capabilities in Polish, which it describes as one of the hardest languages for conversational and voice technology because of inflection and phonetics; most of the agent skills and architecture can be reused in other European languages. The second is an integration layer connecting AI securely to systems enterprises already use. The third is production AI sovereignty: the platform is model-agnostic and can run on premises, in a private cloud or in any public cloud, keeping customer data in Poland. Wonderful wants to deploy Polish models such as PLLuM and Bielik for local businesses.

Global reach

Components built by the Warsaw team already run in production for customers in Amsterdam, Paris and Rome. Some engineers have returned to Poland after working in London and San Francisco.

Wonderful will also expand cooperation with Polish universities through internships, hackathons and training programmes, aiming to let students build AI engineering careers on systems used by the country's largest companies.
