Turkey's 2027 IMEI Registration Fee Set to Hit 69,358 Lira
Registering a phone bought abroad in Turkey could cost 69,358 lira in 2027, up about 15,100 lira, if the 27.83% revaluation rate is applied in full.

The fee for registering a phone brought in from abroad to Turkey's mobile networks is on course to reach 69,358 lira in 2027. The figure comes from applying the 27.83% revaluation rate for 2027, calculated after the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) published its October data.
The 2026 IMEI registration fee is 54,258 lira. Passing the full increase through would add roughly 15,100 lira. The number is not final, though. The revaluation rate becomes official through a notice due in November, and the relevant legislation allows some taxes and fees to rise by different rates. The definitive 2027 fee will be clear only once those rules are published. If the calculation stands, the new fee is expected to apply from 1 January 2027.
Full pass-through is not guaranteed
Last year's experience shows why. The fee rose from 45,614 lira in 2025 to about 54,257 lira for 2026, an increase of 18.95%, even though the 2026 revaluation rate was 25.49%.
Increases have accelerated in recent years. The fee was 1,500 lira in 2019, 2,738 lira in 2022, 31,692 lira in 2024 and 45,614 lira in 2025.
What it means for buying abroad
The higher fee erodes the price advantage of buying a phone overseas. As an example, the 256 GB iPhone 18 Pro Max sells for 149,999 lira in Apple's Turkish store, against a US starting price of $1,299. With an illustrative 8% local sales tax, the US price reaches about $1,403, or roughly 70,145 lira at the current exchange rate.
Add the 69,358 lira registration fee and the total comes to about 139,503 lira. That leaves a saving of around 10,500 lira, before counting travel costs. For many buyers, the case for importing a phone is getting weaker with each increase.
