Mohalla Tech, the company behind ShareChat, reported a 40% rise in revenue for FY26, driven largely by its micro-drama business. The company also said its EBITDA losses narrowed by 58% over the year.

Micro-dramas drive growth

According to the company, the micro-drama vertical contributed Rs 293 crore in subscription revenue in its first full year of operation. The company attributed the overall revenue growth to this segment, which shows how quickly paid short-form storytelling has become a meaningful revenue line for the platform.

Micro-dramas are short, serialised video episodes designed for mobile viewing. The subscription model behind them gives Mohalla Tech a revenue stream that does not depend only on advertising.

Path to profitability

The narrower EBITDA loss is the other headline from the results. A 58% reduction in losses points to tighter costs alongside revenue growth.

Mohalla Tech expects to turn EBITDA-positive for the full year in FY27. If it reaches that target, it would mark a significant milestone for a company that has spent years scaling social and short-video products in India.

For users and creators, the results suggest the company will keep investing in its micro-drama offering, which now sits alongside its core social products as a major growth driver. Whether subscription momentum holds through FY27 will determine if the profitability target is met.
