Rogo, Backed by MUFG and Global Banks, Expands AI Push in Japan
Rogo, the AI platform for investment banks and PE firms, has won strategic backing from MUFG, Barclays, BNP Paribas, Citi Ventures and Societe Generale, and is scaling up in Japan.

Rogo, a US developer of AI for investment banks and private equity funds, has taken strategic investment from a group of global banks, including MUFG, and is now expanding its presence in Japan. In September, Mitsubishi UFJ Innovation Partners (MUIP), MUFG's corporate venture arm, joined Barclays, BNP Paribas (through its Opera Tech Ventures unit), Citi Ventures and Societe Generale as investors.
Rogo describes its product as an "AI operating system" for investment banks, PE funds, asset managers and equity research teams. It covers financial modelling, due diligence, deal screening, investment committee memos and client pitch materials from start to finish. More than 60,000 users at over 450 institutions rely on it, among them Rothschild & Co., Jefferies, Lazard, Moelis and Nomura. The company raised $75 million in a Series C led by Sequoia in January and $160 million in a Series D led by Kleiner Perkins in April.
Felix, the autonomous agent
At the core is Felix, an autonomous AI agent already deployed at many of the world's largest banks and investment firms. It plugs into the tools clients already use, such as email, messaging, spreadsheets and financial data terminals, and carries out multi-step workflows asynchronously, around the clock.
The platform is model-agnostic and every step can be verified and audited. Rogo builds a "financial intelligence layer" on top of leading models and, guided by its own BigFinanceBench evaluation, routes each task to the best frontier model. It is also developing fine-tuned open-weight models for finance. The company says it never trains on customer data, and client-specific templates, data and workflows stay inside each customer's security perimeter. Customization is handled by "forward-deployed bankers" placed inside client firms.
Japan and Asia-Pacific
Rogo has set up a regional headquarters in Asia-Pacific and is hiring in Singapore, Tokyo and Sydney, targeting 150 to 200 staff in the region by the end of 2027, including Japanese-speaking forward-deployed bankers. The platform connects to Japanese sources such as the Financial Services Agency's EDINET disclosure system and translates natively between Japanese and English. It already counts dozens of Japanese clients, including Nomura Securities and Daiwa Securities, and MUIP says it will explore collaboration across MUFG's domestic and overseas business units.
