Midstream Health Raises $20M Series A for AI Hospital Finance
Midstream Health has raised a $20 million Series A led by Valtruis to expand its AI platform that helps hospitals find underpayments and recover lost revenue.

US healthtech startup Midstream Health has raised $20 million in a Series A round led by Valtruis. Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Foundry and CommonSpirit Ventures also took part in the round.
Founded in 2023 by Sumit Kadakia and Venkat Mocherla, the company has now raised a total of $29.2 million. It says the new funding will go toward bringing its platform to more hospitals and health systems.
What the platform does
Midstream Health builds an AI-powered financial operations platform for hospitals and health systems. The goal is to analyze a provider's financial processes, cut costs and recover revenue that would otherwise slip through the cracks.
The software reviews contracts, invoices, insurance claims and payment records. From that data it flags pricing errors, underpayments by insurers and discounts that could be collected. In practice, that helps healthcare organizations see where they are not receiving the payments they are owed.
Automating the recovery process
The platform can also go a step further. For underpayments it identifies, it can prepare reimbursement requests and send them to the relevant parties. The company says it automates these workflows with AI agents.
Through that automation, Midstream Health aims to reduce hospitals' financial losses, lower their operating costs and support their long-term financial sustainability.
The round shows continued investor interest in applying AI agents to the back-office side of healthcare, where billing complexity and contract terms can quietly erode revenue. With a16z and a health system-backed investor in the mix, the startup now has funding to push its product into more provider organizations.
