MacBook Pro Gets a Touchscreen and Dynamic Island for the First Time
Apple has unveiled its first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen. The tandem OLED display reaches 2,000 nits, and the notch area gains the iPhone's Dynamic Island.

Apple has introduced the first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen. The company unveiled the laptop on 28 October 2026, one day after the iMac and the MacBook Pro with M6. Users can now edit content or run presentations by touch, as they do on an iPhone or iPad.
Developers also benefit: they can test the touch features of their iOS and iPadOS apps directly on the Mac. The iPhone's Dynamic Island arrives on the laptop too, where it can show Live Activities or music controls.
Tandem OLED with 2,000 nits
Apple calls the PROLED XDR display "groundbreaking" and "industry-leading", mainly because of its tandem OLED technology. It delivers up to 2,000 nits for both HDR and SDR content, a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1 and a refresh rate from 10 to 120 Hz. Algorithms in the display engine are meant to refine image quality further.
The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips supply the performance. According to Apple, the M5 Max is powerful enough to run large language models with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely on the laptop. It also handles demanding visual effects, 3D animation, film scoring and 8K post-production.
Thinner, lighter, more ports
The 14-inch model is half a millimetre thinner than its predecessor and weighs 1.38 kg, about 230 grams less. The 16-inch version is 320 grams lighter at 1.82 kg and almost a millimetre slimmer. Apple promises up to 24 hours of battery life.
The laptop has three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe and a headphone jack. It supports three external displays with the M5 Pro and four with the M5 Max, plus Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Storage can be configured up to 16 TB. The six-speaker system is said to deliver 50 percent deeper bass and supports Dolby Atmos.
Pricing and availability
Orders are open now, with delivery starting 6 November 2026. In Germany the 14-inch M5 Pro starts at 3,299 euros and the 16-inch at 3,899 euros. With the M5 Max, prices begin at 5,119 euros (14-inch) and 5,599 euros (16-inch). A fully loaded 16-inch model with a 40-core GPU, 128 GB of memory and 16 TB of storage costs just over 16,000 euros.
