Fritzbox update support: Fritz promises patches until 2033
Fritz has published a table showing how long each Fritzbox and accessory will get software updates. Many current models are covered until early 2033.

Fritz has published a table that shows how long its routers, repeaters and other devices will keep receiving software updates. For owners of reasonably recent hardware the news is good: many current Fritzbox models are supported until early 2033.
A handful of models reach the end of their update period earlier, on 1 January or 1 October 2032. According to the list, anyone happy with their current Wi-Fi standard therefore has at least five years before a replacement becomes necessary. Even for the models that expire first, there is plenty of time to plan the next purchase.
Why the end date matters
Software support matters more for routers than many users assume. Once critical security vulnerabilities are no longer patched, a router becomes a risk, and manufacturers have more than once advised owners to dispose of affected devices. Because it is hard to predict when a router or accessory will lose support, the published table gives customers a concrete planning aid.
Fritz also keeps adding features through regular updates and lab versions. FritzOS 8.4o, for example, brings a DNS filter to Fritzboxes that can hide certain advertisements, such as those on smart TVs. The next release, FritzOS 8.50, is already available for several routers.
Accessories are covered too
In addition to the router table, Fritz offers a separate list for mesh, smart home and telephony accessories. Here too, most devices will receive updates until January 2033.
Owners can check the table to find their exact model and the date its support ends, which makes it easier to decide whether an upgrade to a newer Wi-Fi standard is worth considering before then.
