Freeflow and Claude Code: How a Product Manager Dictates His Work
Instaffo's Jan Werner dictates almost everything with the open-source app Freeflow and pairs it with Claude Code. He has dropped Wispr Flow for it.

Jan Werner, Lead Product Manager at the job platform Instaffo, uses the AI dictation app Freeflow almost around the clock. He has switched from the commercial tool Wispr Flow to the open-source alternative and combines it with the coding assistant Claude Code in his daily work.
Werner is responsible for the further development of the Instaffo platform. His working rule, which also gives the story its headline, is blunt: sentences longer than five words get dictated rather than typed.
From Wispr Flow to open source
Freeflow belongs to a growing group of tools that turn speech into text and let people work with AI by voice. Werner started out with Wispr Flow, then moved to Freeflow. The fact that Freeflow is open source is the central difference between the two products.
Voice as the input for AI tools
Werner's setup shows a broader shift in how knowledge workers deal with AI assistants. Anyone who briefs a tool like Claude Code needs to describe tasks, context and requirements in full sentences. Speaking is often faster than typing for that, which is why dictation fits well with this kind of work.
For product managers in particular, who spend much of their day formulating requirements, questions and instructions, a voice-first approach can change how the working day is organized. Werner's case illustrates how a single person has built such a workflow from a dictation app and an AI assistant.
He explains his setup and his reasons for switching in an interview with the t3n editorial team, which is also available in digital magazine form. The conversation is part of the publication's coverage of how AI is changing everyday work.
