Colombian fintech FinMaq has raised $6.5 million in a Series A round led by Accion. Mundi Ventures joined the round, alongside existing investors ALIVE Ventures and 30N Ventures.

The new capital follows a $29 million funding round the company closed in January 2025.

What FinMaq does

Founded in 2014, FinMaq finances machinery and equipment for small businesses and independent workers in Colombia. It works through partnerships with equipment distributors and offers loans, leasing with purchase options and aftersales services. Its digital platform relies on credit assessment models designed to serve customers with limited or no credit history, a group often overlooked by traditional lenders.

Growth targets

FinMaq plans to use the funds to expand into new business segments in both rural and urban areas. Over the next 18 months, the company aims to pass $200 million in cumulative loan disbursements and to serve more than 5,000 additional customers.

So far, FinMaq has disbursed roughly $100 million. An independent survey by 60 Decibels found that 72% of its customers financed equipment for the first time through the company, and 83% reported higher productivity after buying equipment.

Those figures point to the core of the company's pitch: access to productive assets for people who struggle to obtain formal credit. If FinMaq reaches its targets, it would double its cumulative lending in under two years while widening its reach beyond its current customer base.
