Docterz raises Rs 5 crore from Vineeta Singh and doctor-investors
Healthtech startup Docterz has raised Rs 5 crore from about 35 investors, including roughly 20 doctors who use its platform, plus Vineeta Singh and Avnish Anand.
Docterz, a healthcare technology startup founded by paediatrician Dr Atish Laddad, has raised Rs 5 crore from around 35 investors. Notably, a large share of the money came from doctors who use the platform itself.
Around 20 doctor users put in nearly Rs 3 crore, which accounts for about 60% of the total round. The investor group also includes Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, and Avnish Anand, co-founder and former CEO of CaratLane.
How the money will be used
According to the company, the funds will go towards organic expansion, exploring acquisitions and building AI tools for doctors. Docterz also aims to widen its reach among independent practitioners and smaller clinics.
Why it matters
A funding round in which users make up the majority of cheque-writers is relatively unusual in Indian startups. It suggests that practising doctors see enough value in the product to back it financially, which can be a useful signal of product fit in a market where software for small, independent practices is still developing.
The focus on AI tools reflects a wider push among healthtech companies to reduce paperwork and routine workload for clinicians. The company has not detailed specific AI features or a timeline in the information available so far.
For Docterz, the next steps will be putting the capital to work on growth, including any potential acquisitions, while expanding among independent doctors and small clinics.
