Fed, ECB, BOJ Rate Decisions and Coinbase Earnings Lead Crypto Week

Three major central banks decide on rates this week while Coinbase, Strategy, Robinhood and Galaxy report earnings. Traders are watching Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's tone most closely.

Central bank decisions dominate the crypto calendar in the week starting Oct. 26, with the Federal Reserve, Bank of Canada, European Central Bank and Bank of Japan all setting policy, and a crowded run of earnings reports from crypto-linked companies adding to the potential for volatility.

Central banks take center stage

The Fed and the Bank of Canada decide on Wednesday, Oct. 28, followed by the ECB on Thursday and the Bank of Japan on Friday. The Fed's current range is 3.75%–4.00%, and its press conference follows at 2:30 p.m. The Bank of Canada's previous rate was 2.25%, the ECB's deposit rate 2.50% and the BOJ's 1.25%.

The numbers themselves are not expected to move markets. MEXC CEO Vugar Usi Zade said traders care less about the rate decision than about any comments from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh on the December meeting. Holding rates is already priced in, he said, so it is unlikely to be a significant positive catalyst.

Data releases add to the picture: U.S. third-quarter GDP (estimate 3.2%) and September PCE inflation (previous 3.4%, core 3.0%) arrive on Oct. 29, with the Employment Cost Index and eurozone GDP on Oct. 30.

Earnings and onchain events

Galaxy Digital, PayPal and SoFi report before the market opens on Oct. 27, with Robinhood after the close. Mastercard and Intercontinental Exchange report on Oct. 29 before the open, while Coinbase (expected loss of $0.10 per share) and Strategy (expected $8.34) report after the close. Cboe follows on Oct. 30.

In crypto itself, Blast's standard withdrawal interface closes on Oct. 26, though assets stay withdrawable through its bridge contracts on Ethereum. Comments on IRS Notice 2026-62 are due Oct. 28. Unichain aims to hand sequencer operations from Uniswap Labs to the Optimism Foundation on Oct. 29, and Balancer's BIP-928 wind-down calls for pausable pools to move to withdrawals-only on Oct. 30.

Governance votes include CoW DAO's proposal to give its core team a standing mandate on protocol fee policy, ending Oct. 28. Token unlocks include Collector Crypt's CARDS on Oct. 29, worth $20.9 million, and MemeCore's M on Nov. 1, worth $50.34 million.
