The Chinese crossover Exeed RX has taken first place in a ranking of new petrol cars with the longest driving range in Russia. The ranking comes from a study by Avito Auto, which looked at 20 models, including four Lada cars and vehicles from other Russian and foreign brands.

Exeed RX leads with 1,102 km

With a 65-litre fuel tank and a declared consumption of 5.9 litres per 100 km, the Exeed RX has a calculated range of 1,102 km on a single tank.

Lada Vesta is second. It has a 1.6-litre, 106-horsepower engine and a manual gearbox. Its 55-litre tank and consumption of 5.62 litres per 100 km give it a range of up to 979 km. Lada Granta, with the same engine, is third at 962 km.

The top five is completed by Belgee X70 with 906 km and Omoda C5 with 905 km. The list also includes models from Haval, Tenet and Geely, but the calculated range is not given for the remaining 15 cars.

A guide, not a guarantee

The figures are calculated from tank size and declared fuel consumption, so real-world results will differ. Experts note that actual range depends on speed, driving style, vehicle load, tyre pressure, road conditions and weather.

For buyers, the ranking is best used as a way to compare models rather than as a promise of how far a car will travel. Two budget Lada models placing in the top three shows that a large tank is not the only route to long range: low consumption matters as much as capacity.
