Cohere Opens Series E Round Targeting Up to CAD $7 Billion
Cohere has announced the initial close of its Series E round, aiming for up to CAD $7 billion at a CAD $35.7 billion valuation, with Schwarz Group among backers.

Cohere, a provider of sovereign AI for regulated industries and governments, has announced the initial close of its Series E funding round. The company is targeting up to CAD $7 billion, which would value it at CAD $35.7 billion.
According to the company, commitments to date include companies belonging to Schwarz Group. Spanish-language coverage of the announcement also lists NVIDIA and the Government of Canada among the investors, and puts the target at roughly US$4.5 billion.
Why it matters
Cohere positions itself around sovereign AI: systems that banks, public bodies and other regulated organisations can deploy under their own control and legal jurisdiction. A raise of this size would give the company substantial capital to compete in a market dominated by much larger US labs.
The presence of a government and a major European retail and technology group among the backers underlines growing demand for AI infrastructure that is not tied to a single foreign provider.
What comes next
The round is still open, since the announcement refers only to an initial close. Final participants and the total amount raised have not been confirmed, and the target could change before the round is completed.
