Colombian retailtech startup Celes has raised $5 million in a Series A round led by SP Ventures. Fulcrum Global Capital, 30N Ventures and Taram Capital also took part in the financing.

Founded in 2023, Celes builds AI agents and predictive algorithms that help retailers forecast demand, manage inventory and automate how products are distributed across their stores.

Works with existing ERP systems

The platform connects to the enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems retailers already use, including SAP and Oracle. That means companies can automate inventory management without having to replace their current software, which lowers one of the main barriers to adopting this kind of technology.

According to the company, Celes now operates in eight countries and produces 55 million demand forecasts every day across more than 8,500 stores. Its platform automates over 90% of inventory replenishment decisions. Its clients include Olímpica, FEMSA Salud and Tiendas Neto.

Expansion plans

Celes will use the new capital to strengthen its operations in Colombia, Mexico and Chile, and to enter Brazil, one of Latin America's largest retail markets.

For retailers, the appeal is straightforward: better demand forecasts and automated replenishment can reduce the guesswork in stocking stores, a daily challenge for chains with thousands of locations. The round also shows continued investor interest in applied AI for traditional industries in Latin America, where startups are targeting operational tasks rather than consumer products.

The Brazilian launch will be the next test of whether Celes can carry its model, built on integration with legacy systems, into a new and larger market.
