Binance Resumes Withdrawals in Phases After $6.3 Billion Hack
Binance has begun restoring crypto withdrawals in stages after a breach that cost $6.3 billion in digital assets. It says it has covered 95% of the stolen funds.

Binance has started reopening cryptocurrency withdrawals after suspending them following a hack that drained $6.3 billion in digital assets. The exchange is restoring services in phases, and the timing differs by coin and by network.
The company says it has covered 95% of the stolen assets and is still buying the remainder to close the gap left by the attack. Some tokens trade with low liquidity, so acquiring them takes longer. Binance has committed to absorbing the losses itself rather than passing them on to users.
Partial restart
According to the exchange, deposits and withdrawals were halted to contain the breach, assess its impact and run security checks before services returned. As a result, the restart is uneven. When the update was issued, some Bitcoin and Ethereum withdrawals were still under a partial suspension, while other services were already running again. Binance also warned that requests may be processed with delays because of heavy transaction volume as activity resumes.
Between 06:00 and 15:30 UTC on Sunday, Binance processed $4.6 billion in withdrawals and $1 billion in deposits. That amounts to a net outflow of $3.6 billion, or 2.1% of the assets the platform manages.
Attribution and next steps
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has attributed the attack to TraderTraitor, a group linked to North Korea. Binance has pledged to publish a report with details of the incident once the investigation is complete.
For customers, the resumption of withdrawals is a sign of recovery, not confirmation that the fallout is over. Users with funds on the platform should expect uneven availability across assets and networks, and possible processing delays, until the remaining services are restored.
