Apple Reportedly Plans Three iPad Updates for Early 2027
Apple is expected to refresh the entry-level iPad, iPad Air and iPad Pro in the first half of 2027, with an OLED iPad Air and a vapor chamber for the Pro.

Apple is expected to update three iPad models in the first half of 2027. According to information attributed to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the company plans to refresh the entry-level iPad, the iPad Air and the iPad Pro within the first six months of next year.
The plan follows the recent launch of the new OLED iPad mini. Once the three models arrive, the rest of the lineup waiting for an update would be refreshed as well.
OLED for the iPad Air, cooling for the Pro
The new iPad Air is also expected to get an OLED display. That would widen the use of the technology across the iPad family: for now, only the iPad Pro and the new iPad mini have OLED screens.
For the iPad Pro, the most significant change is said to be a vapor chamber cooling system. Such a system spreads the heat the device generates more efficiently, which can help sustain performance during demanding tasks.
Chips and entry-level iPad
On the processor side, the new iPad Air is predicted to use the M5 chip and the iPad Pro the M6. These details are not yet confirmed.
For the entry-level iPad 12, earlier reports pointed to the A19 chip, which could enable Apple Intelligence support, plus the N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7 and the C1X modem in cellular models.
Apple has not made an official announcement about launch timing or the technical specifications of the new models, so all of these details remain unconfirmed.
