The Station Bork, a smart speaker made by home appliance maker Bork together with Yandex, went on sale on 3 November. It is the most powerful device in the Yandex Station lineup, with 75 W of output and a price of 78,000 rubles.

The speaker uses eight drivers and a 5-inch touchscreen, and it runs the Alice voice assistant. Until now the flagship was the 65 W Station Max, so the new model adds 10 W over its predecessor.

Screen, TV mode and smart home

The Station Bork can connect to a TV. In that mode it handles voice search for films, playback control and works as a soundbar. Its own display shows the time, the weather and smart home controls. The device supports the Zigbee standard and the Matter protocol.

Volume is adjusted with an aluminium ring on the top panel. A "vinyl mode" lets users rewind tracks with scratch effects, imitating the movement of a record on a turntable. According to the developers, this is a unique feature.

Commands without "Alice" and sound recognition

For the first time in the lineup, the speaker understands commands without the wake name "Alice". Instead of a fixed "quieter", users can say "make it a bit quieter" or "volume five" in free form.

The device also recognises sounds. If it hears a crying child or an alarm, it can send the owner a notification. To use this, the owner must record the relevant sound and set the action to take. Recognition runs on the device itself, and recordings are not sent to the cloud.

Availability

At launch the Station Bork comes in light blue, and a dark blue version will follow. It is sold in Bork brand stores, on the Bork website and in the official Alice online store.
