Wabi, a US-based startup building personal AI assistants, has raised $55 million in a funding round led by IVP. The deal values the company, founded in 2025, at $1.25 billion.

Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), Forerunner and the Amazon Alexa Fund also took part. The round drew a string of angel investors too, including Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, Marissa Mayer, Dick Costolo and Alex Pall. According to the company, the new money will go toward continued product development and growth.

AI for groups, not just individuals

Wabi was created by Eugenia Kuyda. Most AI tools today are built around one person chatting with an assistant. Wabi takes a different approach: it lets people use AI together with friends, family and partners, centered on shared interests and everyday needs.

The platform combines personalized mini apps with shared spaces. Users can plan trips together, build restaurant lists, set fitness goals and organize events. Families can put together weekly meal plans and shopping lists, while groups of friends can keep track of book club meetings.

Plans that persist

Wabi says the plans and lists it generates are not meant to disappear after a one-off chat. Users can store them in shared spaces, update them over time and follow them together.

The company's aim is to turn AI into an assistant that handles not only individual tasks but also social relationships and shared daily responsibilities. The size of the valuation, reached within a year or so of founding, shows how much investor interest remains in consumer AI products that go beyond the single-user chatbot.
