Traversal raises $120M at a $1B valuation for AI reliability agent
Traversal, maker of an autonomous AI site reliability engineer, has closed a $120 million Series B led by Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Khosla Ventures.

Traversal, a US-based startup building an AI-powered platform for managing software infrastructure, has raised $120 million in a Series B round that values the company at $1 billion. Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Khosla Ventures jointly led the round, with Sequoia Capital, Battery Ventures and Amex Ventures also participating.
Founded in 2023 by Anish Agarwal, Raaz Dwivedi, Ahmed Lone and Raj Agrawal, Traversal has now raised $173 million in total. The company says it will use the fresh capital to expand its engineering, sales and marketing, and research and development teams as it builds out its autonomous AI site reliability engineer.
What the product does
Site reliability engineering (SRE) is the discipline of keeping software and digital services running smoothly, preventing outages and fixing technical problems when they occur. Traversal wants to reduce the workload on engineers in this area by handing much of it to AI agents.
The system continuously analyzes logs, performance metrics and monitoring data from a company's IT infrastructure, learning how that environment normally behaves. When an outage or performance problem occurs, it does more than send an alert: it investigates the source, identifies the cause and proposes fixes. Human engineers then approve the suggested fix to help bring the system back to normal.
Causal machine learning
To pinpoint root causes more accurately, Traversal relies on causal machine learning. Rather than only examining correlations between data points, this approach tries to establish which factor actually caused a problem. The company aims to help businesses resolve issues in complex software environments faster and reduce downtime.
The $1 billion valuation puts Traversal among the more highly valued startups in the AI-for-operations space, and the backing of several top-tier investors signals strong appetite for agents that take on routine infrastructure work while keeping humans in the approval loop.
