Argentine fintech Takenos has raised $7 million in a seed extension led by North Island Ventures and Road Capital Management. Existing investors Variant, Lattice and Reverie also took part, bringing the company's total funding to $12 million.

Founded in 2022 by Francisco Goulu, Joaquín Herrera, Simón Bouché and Lucas Posada, Takenos uses stablecoins to help individuals and businesses move money across currencies and borders. Its products include dollar accounts, cards, and APIs for corporate payments, payroll and treasury management.

Plans for 2027

The company says it will use the new capital to expand into more than 15 Latin American countries by 2027. It also plans to obtain licenses, develop new products and hire staff in engineering, compliance and sales.

Current scale

Takenos operates in six countries and processes more than $5 billion in annual transactions. It says it serves millions of users. Its clients include LATAM Airlines and companies in Bolivia's energy and mining sectors.

The round shows continued investor interest in stablecoin-based payment infrastructure in a region where moving money across borders and holding dollars remain everyday needs for both consumers and companies. The focus on licenses and compliance hiring suggests regulatory readiness will be central to the planned expansion.
