Starlink Cuts Spain Prices but Can Now Change Them Monthly

Starlink has lowered its residential plan prices in Spain, but a new clause lets it raise or cut fees with one month's notice depending on demand.

Starlink has trimmed the monthly price of its residential plans in Spain, but it has also added a clause that lets it change those prices up or down, with only a month's warning to customers.

According to the figures shown on the company's website for the area checked, Residencial 100 Mbps now costs 31.50 euros a month instead of 35. Residencial 200 Mbps falls to 40 euros from 45, and Residencial Max drops to 58.50 euros from 65. These rates had gone up in May, so the new cut partly reverses that increase.

A price that follows demand

The notable change is in the small print. Starlink reserves the right to modify prices in either direction, notifying subscribers a month in advance. Spanish consumers are used to annual rises from operators, especially premium brands, and to providers such as O2 or Digi charging differently depending on where you live. A monthly fee that can move from one month to the next because of demand is something not seen before in the market.

In practice, the logic works both ways. As SpaceX launches more satellites to expand and improve coverage, prices could fall. But the company warns that if demand rises, which is already happening, the same plans could become more expensive.

Why it matters

Starlink keeps adding customers in Spain while European operators try to join forces to counter its dominance in satellite connectivity. Recent additions to its offer, including a rewards programme, plans with a router included and no minimum contract, have brought it closer to traditional telecoms companies.

For subscribers, the trade-off is lower fees today in exchange for less predictability tomorrow. Because notice comes only one month ahead, households relying on Starlink as their main connection may want to check their bill regularly.
