Docomo SMTB Bank to Launch NEOBANK CASH, Replacing V NEOBANK

Docomo SMTB Bank will launch NEOBANK CASH on March 29, 2027, replacing V NEOBANK and swapping V Points for its own cash-redeemable reward points.

Docomo SMTB Bank will launch a new banking service called NEOBANK CASH on March 29, 2027, as the successor to V NEOBANK. The current service will end on March 28, 2027.

From T NEOBANK to NEOBANK CASH

V NEOBANK began in March 2021 as "T NEOBANK", a banking service built on a tie-up between T Point (now V Point) and the former Sumishin SBI Net Bank. It was renamed when T Point moved to V Point, and was marketed as a bank account that earns V Points.

The change follows Docomo's acquisition of Sumishin SBI Net Bank, which became Docomo SMTB Bank in July. After talks between the bank and CCC Life Partner, the operator of the current service, the two sides decided to end V NEOBANK and move to a service that no longer awards V Points. It will instead award a new currency, NEOBANK CASH Points.

How the points work

Customers earn NEOBANK CASH Points through everyday banking: debit card use, salary deposits, pension deposits and direct debits. Points can be exchanged for cash in units of 100 once a balance reaches 500 points, or used toward debit card payments at a rate of 1 point to 1 yen.

When monthly usage totals 1,000 yen or more, the bank grants points equal to 1.25% of the amount used.

What existing customers need to know

Current V NEOBANK users can keep using the service as NEOBANK CASH without changing their branch or account numbers. The branch name, however, will change from "V Point Branch" to "Ichou (Ginkgo) Branch".

For customers, the main change is the reward currency: V Points will no longer be earned on the account once the new service begins, and the new points will take their place.
