Samsung Starts One UI 9 Rollout to Galaxy S23 and Newer
Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 9 to Galaxy phones and tablets from the S23 series onwards, starting in Japan, with other regions to follow in the coming months.

Samsung has started rolling out One UI 9 to its current Galaxy smartphones and tablets. The update begins in Japan, and the company says the rest of the world is expected to follow over the coming months.
Until now, One UI 9 was limited to a handful of the newest devices: the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, which launched in August 2026. It also shipped on the Galaxy Tab S12 series, which arrived in October. The new rollout widens availability considerably, covering Galaxy devices released from the Galaxy S23 series onwards.
Timeline so far applies to Japan only
Samsung has published an expected schedule for the update, but it applies only to devices in Japan. The company has not yet provided a comparable timetable for other markets, so owners elsewhere will need to wait for regional announcements. The hope is that the update reaches global users in the coming months.
What owners should do
If you have a Galaxy phone or tablet from the S23 generation or later, it is worth checking your software update settings periodically. Rollouts of this kind are typically gradual, so the update may not appear on every device at the same time, even within the same country.
For those who have been waiting on One UI 9, the expectation is that most eligible devices will receive it before the end of the year. Exact dates will depend on the model, region and carrier, and Samsung has so far only detailed the Japanese schedule.
The move signals that Samsung is bringing its latest software to its mainstream lineup within a few months of the new foldables, rather than keeping it exclusive to new hardware. Further regional timelines are expected as the rollout expands beyond Japan.
