Oman's Mamun raises $3m to support Gulf-Asia trade with AI
Oman-based fintech startup Mamun has raised $3m. The company says it uses AI to assess exporters, buyers and trade documents in Gulf-Asia trade.

Mamun, a fintech startup based in Oman, has raised $3m to expand its work in trade between the Gulf and Asia.
According to the company, its platform uses artificial intelligence to assess three key elements of a cross-border deal: exporters, buyers and the trade documents that accompany a shipment.
Why it matters
Trade between Gulf countries and Asian markets involves counterparties that can be hard to verify and paperwork that must be checked before a deal proceeds. By applying AI to that assessment, Mamun is aiming at one of the practical frictions in this trade corridor.
The round also adds to the flow of capital into fintech companies in Oman, a market that is less often in the spotlight than some of its Gulf neighbours.
What is not yet clear
The company has not provided further details in the material available, so the investors, the valuation and the exact plans for the new funding remain unspecified. Further announcements from Mamun are expected to show how the funds will be used.
